The Occupational Health and Safety act requires adequate first aid training to be provided in all workplaces.  Basic Emergency First Aid Responder (Level 1) course is an essential training program designed to equip all individuals with the basic skills and knowledge required to provide immediate assistance during medical emergencies.

This course is aligned with the QCTO Skills Program 230801, with modules which include:

* Fundamental Concepts & Principles of Basic First Aid
* Applying the basic techniques of Emergency First Aid
* Basic Fundamentals of Human Anatomy & Physiology
* Principles of Recognising Injuries & Illnesses

Requirements

To undertake this course, students need to have the ability to communicate in English, including the ability to read and comprehend instructions, as well as convey incident details to emergency response services.
Students must have sufficient physical ability to squat, kneel, bend, lift and carry objects and perform uninterrupted CPR continuously for 2 minutes on both an adult and infant manikin on the floor during the practical scenarios.

Results

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including managing the unconscious casualty, performing CPR, controlling bleeding and managing other life-threatening situations. It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public who want to be able to manage an emergency first aid situation.
